Last spring, Kim Armstrong, Deputy Minister, Alberta Status of Women, had the incredible opportunity of participating in a week-long session of senior women leaders from across Canada called The Judy Project. She has developed a 2.5 hour training program to share some of the incredible insights and wisdom that she gained through this experience. In essence, it is about discovering your own superpowers and learning how to best leverage them. The Judy Project is a 6-day program designed to help upper-level managers and business executives identify and improve the skills sets they have, and to recognize and remedy where they may be lacking. While the program is aimed at senio-levl individuals, the lessons learnt are applicable at any level. Kimberly Armstrong, QC, ICD.DMs. Armstrong is passionate about supporting and enabling women to pursue their own, unique leadership journey. In 2013, she was a founding member of the Women in Leadership (WIL) Initiative within the Government of Alberta. WIL is an employee driven movement aimed at supporting, engaging, and empowering each woman within the Government of Alberta to reach her full potential.Ms. Armstrong received her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies and her Bachelor of Laws. She has also completed the Police Management Certificate and is currently enrolled in the Institute of Corporate Directors/Rotman School of Management Directors Education Program.Ms. Armstrong was appointed Deputy Attorney General in October, 2013 and to the additional role of Acting Deputy Minister, Justice and Solicitor General in March, 2015. As Deputy Attorney General, she was responsible for the Legal Services Division and Crown Prosecution Service Division. In her role as Acting Deputy Minister, she oversaw a department of 6800 employees ranging from Crown prosecutors to correctional officers, and from court administration staff to Sheriffs. Most recently, Ms. Armstrong was appointed Deputy Minister of Status of Women on June 30, 2015. She is excited to have the opportunity to develop this new ministry.
