“My Long-term Relationship with the Rossdale Site” The Rossdale site (FjPi-63) is believed to be the location of the second and fourth phases of NWCo. Fort Augustus and HBCo. Edmonton House. Situated in the North Saskatchewan River Valley near downtown Edmonton, Rossdale has been home to various municipal and industrial developments for over a century. This more recent land use has resulted in extensive disturbance to significant archaeological deposits, although explorations on the site since the 1980s have shown that intact vestiges occasionally occur. Consistent management of these historical resources over the past 15 years has resulted in a better understanding of the patterning of the nineteenth-century occupation. This paper is a discussion of the major discoveries made as a result of CRM studies on the site. For more information, please visit the Archaeology Beyond the Academy webpage.
