While podcasting as a medium has thus far been dominated by men, a shift is underway; more and more women are stepping up to the microphone and seizing the means of podcast production. In this presentation, Hannah McGregor and Marcelle Kosman—co-creators and hosts of the Harry Potter fandom podcast Witch, Please—will discuss podcasting as feminist praxis and pedagogy, with a particular focus on theorizing collaboration in terms of women being literally in conversation with each other. Through the intersections of fandom, feminism, and academia, Witch, Please has developed into a counterpublic that makes space for conversation, critique, and rethinking both within and beyond the university. For more on Witch, Please, see http://ohwitchplease.ca/ A public lecture sponsored by the Department of English. All are welcome.
