Jean is a Murri woman (Wakka Wakka) from south east Queensland. Originally trained as a primary school teacher, she now researches and teaches in Indigenous education. Her PhD examined how resistance was articulated, rationalised and managed by non-Aboriginal students in a mandatory Indigenous studies program for pre-service teachers. She is particularly interested in the interaction between Indigenous knowledge systems and western colonial traditions with regard to colonial identity construction and intellectual authority, and teaching for optimal learning in contested spaces. All welcome to this free event.
