Andrea Whiteley is a fourth year PhD Candidate in the department of Communication and Culture. Her research focuses on public access to social science and humanities research and the public good. This research presentation gives an interesting snapshot of what students, staff and faculty at the University of Calgary know about Open Access. The survey was conducted in 2012 and a follow-up study is planned for later this year to determine whether awareness and understanding of the Open Access movement has increased. This research is not only important to those who wish to promote Open Access; but also to the greater university community that is increasingly being scrutinized regarding research output, distribution and use.
Location:
Gallery Hall – Taylor Family Digital Library
