Opportunity Description:

Skill Development and Networking Support for Young Immigrant Women  This program offers mentorship services to enhance the career and academic readiness of immigrant youth ages 18 – 29. SUMMARY OF POSITION The mentor supports and encourages the professional development of the mentee and provides active guidance to help them achieve their goals.  Minimum time commitment is two hours per month with flexible meeting times. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Attend required orientation Support immigrant youth through a one-on-one mentoring relationship Support participants with career planning, goal setting, and finding networking opportunities Help mentees build self-esteem, mutual respect, and intercultural understanding Report mentoring activities and volunteer hours to supervising staff STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE Ensure that professional approach is aligned with CIWA values Demonstrate a high level of initiative and enthusiasm Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, dedicated, responsible, and organized QUALIFICATIONS Passion for working with immigrant youth Strong computer skills and familiar with online platforms Open minded, enthusiastic, and motivated Understand and respect diversity Ability to work independently Currently employed in a professional field/career Successfully transitioned to the workplace and integrated into Canada
