OLUNTEERS – We need you! Oki, Danit’ada, Aba Wathtech, Hello, Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Walking With Our Sisters Calgary. Our volunteers are the backbone of this amazing event. We appreciate you taking time to sign up for one of the many important positions needed to bring our community together to honour the lives of missing and murdered Indigenous women. We’re using SignUp.com (the leading online SignUp and reminder tool) to organize our upcoming SignUps. Here’s how it works in 3 easy steps (Please sign up for both areas): Click this link to see our SignUp on SignUp.com: http://signup.com/go/YPpSkLa For General Sign-Up http://signup.com/go/hLYPzwN For Volunteer Orientation Sign-up (Please note orientation is mandatory) 2) Review the options listed and choose the spot(s) you like. 3) Sign up! It’s Easy — you will NOT need to register an account or keep a password on SignUp.com. Below is a description of the volunteer positions available: Installation: Assist with the installation of the moccasin vamps and other ceremonial items. Installation orientation is required. Greeters: As the first point of contact for patrons visiting the installation, greeters will provide directions and general information about Walking with Our Sisters. Food Prep: Assist with preparing and serving food and drinks. Responsibilities may include preparing food, replenishing food tables, or serving elders and other guests. Wellness Workers: Assist with directing visitors to various health supports, as needed. First Aid training is required for this role. Floating Volunteers: This is a role for those who are willing to help out as needed. You may be asked to help with food prep, work as a greeter, or accompany elders from the entrances to the exhibit. Sacred Fire Keepers: Help to keep the sacred fire burning throughout the Walking with Our Sisters installation. This role is particularly recommended for Indigenous youth who wish to learn about firekeeping. Thank you, again, in advance for your time and consideration. With your help, Walking with Our Sisters Calgary will be a great success! We look forward to seeing you between April 29–May 13. Walking With Our Sisters Volunteer Committee
