About Us DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to protecting children and other vulnerable people online. Our mission is to reduce online risks through education and technology to create safer digital spaces. Role Description DEFEND is looking for dedicated HR Generalists and Volunteer Coordinators to join our HR Team. As a part of this team, you will support DEFEND’s personnel needs, focusing on recruitment, onboarding, training, and volunteer engagement. This role is ideal for individuals interested in a flexible, part-time, or casual opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization. Responsibilities Personnel Management: Address and manage personnel issues, including handling resignations and disciplinary actions for volunteers who do not adhere to DEFEND’s code of conduct. Exit Surveys & Team Transfers: Conduct exit surveys for departing team members and facilitate smooth transfers between teams. Policy Development: Assist in creating HR policies that align with DEFEND’s needs and organizational goals. Reporting: Provide regular reports to DEFEND’s Committee or Board on recruitment strategies and any personnel-related challenges. Committee Support Program: Help develop and oversee the Committee Support Program, assigning Committee Members as support contacts for volunteers. Recruitment Analysis: Monitor volunteer recruitment trends and advise the Committee Chair on effective recruitment strategies. Qualifications Experience in human resources, volunteer coordination, or a related field is an asset. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive personnel matters with confidentiality and professionalism. Self-motivated, organized, and able to work effectively in a remote environment.
