The Women’s Centre is a women-only space which provides services and referrals for all women, as well as a place where women can come and build community. We work with a unique peer model, where women are recognized as the experts in their own lives and volunteers work as women helping other women. We offer women referrals, basic needs assistance, peer support, and many other services. We provide an informal social space where women can come and meet with other women over a coffee or a snack. The Women’s Centre is also a place where women can learn about social issues and work for social change. In general, the Women’s Centre is a very busy and vibrant place to volunteer. Unless otherwise stated on a posting, our volunteer positions are open to women-identifying individuals who are 18 years old or older.

The Doorway's mission is making change possible by empowering people to take steps toward a sustainable future. Since 1988, The Doorway has provided an opportunity for young people (17-30 years old), who want to exit the streets, to build independent and sustainable lives in society through self-determination.  The Doorway uses a two-year planning process called MyPlan to support young people's self-determination in identifying and determining for themselves what they need to get off the streets. Through goal setting and speaking with volunteers, young people gain the knowledge to actively participate in the change they want to make in their lives.  Recently, The Doorway expanded to include street outreach and in-reach to other youth-serving organizations in order to connect with more youth.

The Alexandra Centre Society (ACS) was created as a registered charity in 1975. The Alexandra Centre, our building that we manage, has been at the heart and centre of the community since 1902 – and when threatened to be no more, brought our communities together to save a piece of our heritage. We are not a community centre, rather the center of our community. The ACS serves multiple communities and brings our communities together- rather than focus on one individual community alone. Bringing multiple communities together makes us stronger and allows for a larger reach in our City. The ACS helps support and strengthen our communities coming together and we offer resources beyond what local associations offer, and pickup the gaps where needed. We help engage more residents in matters that affect us all. We care for and protect a piece of Calgary’s history, while offering affordable spaces for essential services. We help support the wellbeing of our residents with many helpful and useful programs such as the CVITP tax program, Good Food Box depot, Food Security hampers, engaging classes and camps, and community use spaces. 1.1 Our Mandate: Vision The Alexandra Centre Society (ACS) cultivates a vibrant, inclusive, local community where everyone is welcome, and our historical legacy is celebrated. 1.2 Our Mandate: Mission The Alexandra Centre Society (ACS) is a collaborative organization that serves the City of Calgary, and surrounding areas, and works to enhance, strengthen, and honour the heritage of Inglewood, Ramsay, Beltline - Victoria Park, and East Village. Through the promotion and delivery of cultural, social, educational, and recreational programs, the ACS fosters an inclusive and engaged community and facility space to be enjoyed for years to come. 1.3 Purpose of the Society The Society promotes and encourages educational, recreational, athletic and arts facilities, programs and equipment for the use and benefit of the residents of the City of Calgary and in particular, residents of the communities of Inglewood, Ramsay, Beltline - Victoria Park and East Village. In particular, the ACS endeavours to: • Provide accessible resources, programs, services, and activities to our regional community; • Provide educational, recreational, and social programs and services; • Maintain the ACS facility, allowing space for activities; • Improve life for residents in our communities; • Celebrate ACS history, legacy, and heritage. 1.4 Objects of the Society The objects of the society are: – To promote and provide educational, recreational, and athletic facilities and equipment for the use and benefit of residents of the City of Calgary; – To promote, encourage, and assist the educational, charitable, athletic, and community endeavors within the City of Calgary; – To purchase, lease, sublease, hire, or otherwise acquire and hold lands or buildings or any interest therein for the purpose of creating facilities for recreational and cultural uses and to do those things necessary to maintain and operate such premises; – To receive, acquire, and hold gifts, donations, grants, legacies, and devises.

The Northern Hills Community Association (NHCA) is a grassroots, volunteer-based organization on a mission to enhance the quality of life of its residents by enriching and empowering our diverse communities through advocacy, education, and provision of opportunities for engagement. NHCA serves over 57,000 residents in five communities in North Central Calgary: Country Hills, Country Hills Village, Coventry Hills, Harvest Hills and Panorama Hills. The YMCA of Greater Toronto is a charity that ignites the potential in people, helping them grow, lead, and give back to their communities. As outlined in our 2020–2025 strategic plan, Ignite the Light, we are focused on boosting well-being and promoting equity across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). In the future we see for our region, everyone will have opportunities to shine their brightest. Mirroring the diversity we’re privileged to have in the GTA, our YMCA offers a variety of programs responding to the needs of our communities. For 170 years, the YMCA of Greater Toronto has provided opportunities for people to shine through a variety of programs and services including health and fitness, licensed child care, camps, employment and immigrant services, education and training, and services for youth, families, and seniors.

Living in a big city can be tough. For most low income earners, just getting by is hard enough. Throw in an injury or a lost job and suddenly the whole family is at risk. The Samaritan Club of Calgary is dedicated to providing short term assistance to Calgarians in need. We provide support to those in crisis only by referral from health care professionals, social workers, and community support workers. Each request must come through an email to  samaritanclubofcalgary@gmail.com  , a telephone call or written letter to our mailbox. Samaritan Club members are a dedicated team of some 150 women who raise funds throughout the year to support their initiatives. The majority of the funds continue to be raised through the famous Super Sales held in both the Spring and Fall at the Hillhurst-Sunnyside Community Centre. Other events such as bridge luncheons, casinos and golf tournaments are periodically staged to provide additional revenue. An outstanding feature of the Samaritan Club of Calgary is that it operates without any administrative overhead. Members pay an annual fee to ensure that 100% of the funds raised in the community can be directed to those in need.

Easter Seals Alberta is a registered charity that provides services that foster inclusion, independence and recreation for individuals with disabilities and medical conditions. We have been connecting Albertans with direct services, programs, and advocacy since 1951.

The Drop-In Centre welcomes adults at risk of, or currently experiencing homelessness. We work to provide access to a spectrum of care that supports each person’s transition to the most independent living situation possible—including emergency shelter, programs and services, and affordable and supported housing.

The HOPE Initiative Foundation is a registered Canadian charity that increases student access to education and leadership opportunities. HOPE exists as a platform to inspire innovative solutions to broken systems. Whether providing short-term relief, or building long-term systems, we believe that the best answers are global in concept, local in execution, and limitless in their ability to create and inspire change. We have numerous university specific HOPE branches that focus on creating tangible change in the local area. We also host a program, called HOPE for Community, that was created to connect students with organizations who need enthusiastic volunteers.
