The Chair in Christian Thought presents The Swanson Lectures in Christian Spirituality Stories From the Edge: Aboriginal Insights in an Uncertain World Against the backdrop of residential schools and government assimilationist policies, my Indigenous mother taught me to find hope. In facing overwhelming situations she was able to do more than just survive. The ability to move from survival to flourishing is grounded in aboriginal people embracing a communal identity. Given that western Christian theology has been complicit in attempting to annihilate aboriginal identity, it is important to claim the language of Christian theology in the cause of healing the damage done in the mission of the gospel in North America.
