“Loving Kindness” Mindfulness strategies and quick tips for our busy world The Mobile Self-Care Team is thrilled to present Rachael Crowder, PhD, RSW, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Social Work, and her event “Loving Kindness” on Friday, November 20, 2015. This event is free and open to all students, faculty, & staff at the University of Calgary. The focus will be on mindfulness of breath and the body, cultivating an attitude of radical friendliness (loving kindness) towards our experience and our self in the present moment. These practices are ones you can do throughout the day to increase focus, improve mental clarity, and reduce feelings of anxiety or stress. This is also an opportunity for individuals on campus to connect with others. When: November 20, 2015 (Friday) Where: TFDL ARTS GALLERY HALL Schedule: 12:15-12:30: Introduction to mindfulness 12:30 – 12:45: Mindful eating and inquiry 12:45 – 1:00: Yoga (in chairs or on the ground if you bring a mat) and mindfulness of breath 1:00 – 1:20: Loving kindness meditation 1:20 -1:30pm: Inquiry (Q&A) This is a free event, and people do not need any previous experience with yoga or meditation; all levels of ability are welcome. Open to all students, faculty members, and staff. Healthy snacks and refreshments will be provided. No reservation required!
