Join LARC for the third screening of our Mexican cinema series with the award-winning film En la estancia (2014) by director Carlos Armella. Jesus Vallejo and his son Juan Diego are the only inhabitants left in the ghost town La Estancia. The quiet, peaceful life they lead is disturbed when a cameraman arrives to film a documentary depicting the life of the lonely men. The three forge a close relationship that unfortunately only lasts a few days. When the documentary maker has to go back to the city he promises to come back to La Estancia, but many years pass before he can fulfill his promise. By then the only thing left in La Estancia is the echo of lost voices. In Spanish with English subtitles. 1hr46mins. Free and open event. March 30, 2017 @ 7pm, SS 203. Info: larc.ucalgary.ca/events
