University of Calgary hosts international gymnastics competition Last competition before Canadian men’s team heads to Olympic trials Competition is heating up in senior men’s gymnastics. The University of Calgary International Cup, taking place between March 18 and 19, will be the Canadian men’s last competition before athletes face the world once more at the last test event for the Olympics. These athletes will be competing against teams USA and China with the outcome determining which individuals will compete in the upcoming Olympic trials. Top Canadian athletes who will be at the event are Kevin Lytwyn, Scott Morgan, Jackson Payne, Anderson Loran, and a few more yet to be determined to be on the team. The women’s artistic gymnastics competitors have already qualified for the Olympics with the following team members: Ellie Black, Sydney Townsend, Audrey Rousseau, Brittany Rogers and Victoria Woo. Dates: Senior men on the Fri., Mar. 18 and Sat. Mar. 19 Time: Fri. March 18 from 6:30-9:30 PM, event finals are March 19 from 7:00-9:30 PM Location: University of Calgary’s Jack Simpson Gymnasium, 2500 University Dr NW, Calgary, AB T2N 1N4. Tickets: Free for children 5 and under, seniors (60 +) and students (with ID) Youth (6-17) $5.00/day Adult (18+) $10.00/day Family Pass $25.00/day (2 adults, up to 4 kids) 4-Day Event Pass $20 adult / $10 child Results: Will be posted on website, Facebook, and Twitter. This international meet, hosted at the University of Calgary, is presented by UNOCAL (parents association) in conjunction with the Women’s Southern Zones for the Alberta Gymnastics Federation and an international competition for the men gymnastics with Gymnastics Canada.
