Now in its third year, the Frank Eyck Memorial Lecture in German History will be held on 22 April 2015 in the Husky Oil Great Hall (Rozsa Centre) on the University of Calgary Main Campus. Dr. Konrad Jarausch (University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill) will deliver this year’s keynote address. Exploring Germany’s path after re-unification in 1991, Dr. Jarausch’s talk, “Consequences of Unification,” will take stock of the social, economic, cultural, and political dimensions of the merger between East and West Germany. The resulting balance sheet is neither triumphalist nor hypercritical, but rather an effort to establish what worked and what did not. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the lecture will start at 7 pm. Refreshments will be served before and after. This event is free and open to the public.
