Join Dr. Kristin von Ranson and the Women’s Resource Centre for an Eating Disorders and Gender discussion session. At the Eating Disorders and Gender Session, Dr. von Ranson will speak to us and help to guide an informative discussion about the different challenges faced by women and men experiencing eating disorders, due to differential stigma, pressure, stereotypes and expectations that are gender based and prevalent in our society. Eating disorders are among the most chronic and lethal type of mental disorders (American Psychiatric Association, 2000), and they are much more prominent in cultures (like ours) where the thin ideal is predominant. This will be a great opportunity to discuss your questions, thoughts, and ideas about this important topic with an expert in this field. Please join us for an interesting, lively, and educational group discussion!

Location:

MacEwan Student Centre 482 – Women’s Resource Centre
