Get Ready to Get Hired! Resume and Career Workshop Oct 15, 2014 09:00 AM to 12:00 PM Get Ready to Get Hired! – Graduate Student Career Event Series Many students at the Cumming School of Medicine face uncertainty when looking at their potential career path after graduation. A smooth transition from student life to the real working environment requires specific transferable skills not easily gained through traditional academic training. Please join us at the “Get Ready to Get Hired!” event series which will provide you with these necessary skills and prepare you to enter your future academic or non-academic career. The series of events includes a resume and career skills workshop day, as well as final mock interviews and an engaging panel discussion with experts from various medical and related fields. At the Get Ready to Get Hired! Resume and Career Workshop you will: Learn how to prepare an effective resume and receive resume critique from Career Services experts. Gain communication skills and interview techniques Sample job descriptions for workshop/mock interviews: Research Technician Medical Science Liasion Analyst Improve your confidence and get you ready for the first step in your pathway to a successful career! Program: Date Time Event Series Location Wed October 15 9am-12pm Resume and Career Workshop G384 Fri October 24 Resume submission to Career Services experts deadline Fri October 31 Resume return to participants Fri November 7 Resume resubmission for mock interviewers deadline Fri November 14 9am-5pm 9am-9:20am 9:30am-2:30pm 2:30pm-4pm 4pm-5pm Interview Day Opening remarks Mock interviews Panel discussion Networking at TGIF 1405A *6 rooms 1405A HSC Atrium Eligibility All workshops, including the panel discussion, are open for all students and post doctoral fellows. To register for workshop see below. No registration necessary for the panel discussion on Friday November 14. To attend the mock interviews, each portion requires completion and attendance and one of the following: For master students: You must be enrolled in at least your second full academic year of graduate studies at the Cumming School of Medicine. For PhD students: You must have passed your candidacy exam at the Cumming School of Medicine. How to Register Registration for the event will be open until two days before each workshop.
