The Department of Political Science Speaker Series presents the talk “Canadian Naval Counter-Terrorism Operations In The Middle East”. About the speaker and talk: Navy Captain Bill Quinn was born and raised in Stephenville, Newfoundland. Upon completion of naval officer training in 1991, he served in HMCS Algonquin for two years including time in Operation Sharp Guard off the coast of the former Yugoslavia. He then served as the Above Water Warfare Officer in HMCS Athabaskan and Weapons Officer on HMCS Iraquois. After serving ashore for four years, he returned to sea as Executive Officer of HMCS Ville de Quebec and later as commanding officer of HMCS Calgary where he conducted operations in the Indian Ocean, the South China Sea, the Pacific Ocean and in home waters. From July 2013 to September 2015 now Captain Quinn served as the NORAD Maritime Liaison Officer in Washington, D.C. and was then selected to be the Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff for Combined Task Force 150 with the Royal Australian Navy in Bahrain from September 2015 to June 2016. He will speak about his experience in counter-terrorism operations with CTF 150. This is a free seminar open to the public. All are welcome to attend.
