Opening reception: February 23, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Terroir and Baton is a collection of woodblock prints, relief and projected sequences that make reference to esoteric traditions that study natural phenomena as a key to harnessing nature’s power. ‘Terroir’ a technique for searching underground water, minerals, ley lines, or anything invisible, by observing the motion of a stick or the changes in direction of a pendulum. ’Baton’ a type of weapon. Susannah Stark is a Scottish artist currently studying Printmaking at the Royal College of Art. Her work is an ongoing exploration into printmaking and its potential as a philosophical praxis. Stark is interested in the parallels between traditional and digital technique and continues to explore the ‘glitch’ as a generative movement for understanding spiritual experiences in the contemporary world.
