Opportunity Description:

Ups and Downs is a registered not-for-profit, volunteer-run organization for individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and their support groups. Our vision is to promote lifelong partnerships that foster family connections, friendships, healthy lifestyles, an inclusive community, and a future without limits. As our organization continues to develop and expand, we are excited to add a Program Coordinator volunteer to be part of the growth of our organization. This opportunity has you lead the planning and coordination of member events and programs with other volunteers from start to finish; including promotion, event logistics, day-of activity management, completing post-event follow up, and developing new event ideas. Are you organized, friendly, task oriented, and can work both independently and with a team? You will have access to tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Mailchimp, etc. This impactful role has you collaborating with other volunteers such as the Volunteer Coordinator, Communications Volunteers, and Member Relations Volunteer. Major duties include: Plan, initiate, and execute annual and monthly events and programs, including budgeting, sourcing materials needed, follow-up, etc. (with Volunteer and Event Coordinator support) Execute all event and program communication to Ups and Downs members (in coordination with Communications Volunteers) Attend events as needed Connect with external organizations to collaborate on programming Assist with administrative and financial duties and budgeting for programming Preferred skills: High School Diploma preferred Experience with event management (ex: planning, marketing, and administration) Comfort or experience working with persons with disabilities Strong ability in team work and communication skills Experience with database administration
