We are pleased to announce that the current season of Movies That Matter is presented by the Department of Communication and Culture in partnership with NUTV and the University of Calgary Film Society. Join us for the film Plot For Peace screening at 7pm and be held in the Gallery Hall on the main floor of Taylor Family Digital Library (TFDL). About the Film Plot for Peace tells the strange and mysterious story of a lone French buisness man, who behind closed doors was instrumental in releasing Nelson Mandela from prision. Utilizing interviews with figures directly involved with the historical events (including Winnie Mandela), Plot for Peace sheds light on a part of history that long lay hidden. As exciting as any political thriller, directors Carlos Agullo and Mandy Jacobson show the complexities of international politics and provide a rare look at the combonation of social and economic forces that finally brought Apartheid to its knees. Filled with tense moments that would rival those of Argo, Plot for Peace is an inspiring film that shows the power of a single individual to influence the course of history. Directed by Carlos Agullo and Mandy Jacobson About Movies That Matter Since 2002, NUTV has delivered a monthly series of documentary film premieres, screening only the finest in inspiring and intelligent non-fiction cinema from across the globe! Each screening is followed by an engaging discussion, featuring the director of the film and/or someone from the community known for their expertise or insightful views on the subject. Admission is by donation benefiting the Campus Food Bank or free for students with ID.
