Too often the doors to science and mathematics are closed early in children’s education. When the doors are closed early, children’s future opportunities and career choices are limited. How can parents, teachers and community support children’s scientific and mathematics education to keep the horizon of possibilities open as long as possible? What are the STEM issues that children, parents, teachers, and community care about? Our first event is to learn about STEM and discuss what issues are important to ensure children’s success in mathematics and science, including children with fewer opportunities. In this pilot event, parents, teachers and the broader community are invited to learn and to discuss issues of concern in STEM education.
