Accelerator YYC Preflight

ACCELERATORYYC IS PLEASED TO PARTNER WITH FLIGHTPATH VENTURES & STARTUP EDMONTON TO BRING PREFLIGHT TO CALGARY. Preflight is a part-time, 5-week intensive pre-accelerator program that helps “pre-startups” take those first early steps to become fully-fledged startups. Do you have a startup idea that you’ve been thinking about and developing and just haven’t figured out what direction to go? Encountered a huge market problem that you want to tackle? Built something at HackYYC or have been tinkering away on late nights and weekends on something awesome? Preflight helps entrepreneurs, developers, and designers experiment and validate their product/startup idea. We take a hands-on approach to help you make that first real commitment to building a scalable startup. Preflight is run in partnership between Flightpath Ventures, Startup Edmonton, AcceleratorYYC and the A100, a network of experienced entrepreneurs and investors dedicated to mentoring and supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs and startups. HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS Preflight is an experiential learning workshop built around the Customer Development methodology by Steve Blank. Over the course of the program, you’ll be immersed in activities including: Lessons and case studies Weekly assignments and tasks Weekly elevator pitches Access to coworking space One-on-one mentor meetings Final presentation Preflight is structured as a mix of lessons, presentations, work sessions, mentorship and individual assignments. At the end of the workshop, you’ll have what you need to make a commitment towards becoming a full-time startup. PRICING & SCHEDULE Program intakes are held throughout the year and the program runs quarterly. The cost for Preflight is $599 plus taxes, per individual ($299 for AcceleratorYYC Resident or Shared members or Students to Startups members). This fee includes all sessions and access to drop in during business hours to AcceleratorYYC. Currently there are no scholarships available but there may be in the future. Main sessions are held Tuesday evenings (5:30 pm to 7:30 pm), and work sessions on Wednesday evenings (5:30 pm to 7:30 pm). Participants are also expected to complete assignments and other tasks outside these sessions. Notes: Fees are based on an individual, not team basis. If you have more than one founder on your startup team, then each of you will need to register. Participants are responsible for providing their own laptop with wi-fi for notes, presentations and work sessions. We would also recommend bringing a paper notebook for brainstorming, diagrams, and wire framing.
