Classical Music of India for Contemplation, Meditation, and Yoga Raj Rangayyan: Bansuri Bamboo Flute and Utpal Mazumdar: Tabla Drums Morning 8 a.m. to 8:50 a.m. Evening 4 p.m. to 4:50 p.m. Escalus Meeting Room – MacEwan Student Centre Come Earlier… Leave Later! Avoid the rush hour. Relax with soothing sounds and mystical melodies before getting to work and before commuting home. Let Raj’s music on the bansuri with Utpal on the tabla carry you away into a space that facilitates contemplation, relaxation, and meditation. Experience how classical music can help you be mindful and improve your emotional balance. During the magical twilight hours between darkness and light, a clear mind prepares you to face the day. In the tradition of Hindustani classical music, we improvise and explore with ragas – ancient musical structures – that resonate with our environment and state of being. Each concert includes improvisation on two ragas and a devotional closing. The ragas selected for the unique twilight concerts are specifically created for dawn and dusk. Experience exquisite melodies, moods, and ambience not encountered in typical concerts. In addition to chairs, limited space will be available to spread out your own yoga/meditation mat. Relax in the lotus position or your favorite meditative asana as you immerse yourself in exquisite music! Tickets: $10 each at the concerts. CDs on sale for $ 10 each at the concerts. This event is co-sponsored by the Division of Music, School of Creative and Performing Arts For more info, visit members.shaw.ca/raj_rangayyan.

Wherever you turn, you can find someone who needs you. Even if it is a little thing, do something for which there is no pay but the privilege of doing it. Remember, you don’t live in a world all of your own.
