Opportunity Description:

This role involves a high degree of interaction with children between the ages of 3-12 with Cerebral Palsy and other disabilities Primary Responsibilities: Support program participant with 1:1 interaction. Follow instructions from the swim instructor and adapt appropriately to the participant you are paired up with Ensure safety of the participant. Communicate quietly to caregiver/parent if you feel the participant needs their assistance Follow up with instructor or CPAA program coordinator after program commences and communicate any problems, needs, or concerns with the participant Be ready and in the pool 10 minutes prior to class starting to meet participant Communicate with Program Coordinator regarding schedule and gives advanced notice of absence Offer support, suggestions and interact with new volunteers Must follow all safety rules and safe work practices. Provide current Police Check and Vulnerable Sector check every 5 years Maintains confidentiality of all CPAA documents and information.   Expectations, Qualifications and Skills: Feel comfortable in deep water and able to support the movement of the participant they are working with Must be dependable and punctual Be self-directed, willing to take initiative Ability to work with a diverse population. Must have good communication skills. Must have good decision making skills. Commitment: Saturdays 5:30-6:30pm
