The NASA International Space Apps Challenge – the world’s largest annual hackathon – returns this year with the theme “Make Space,” which emphasizes NASA’s commitment to inclusivity. The Calgary regional event, hosted by SEDS-ÉEDS Canada, is looking for a Sponsorship Manager to join our team. The Sponsorship Manager will be responsible for researching and contacting potential new sponsors. In collaboration with the local leads, this position will develop a general sponsorship package to showcase the benefits available to sponsors when they contribute to the event. Our goal is to secure sponsorship funds from local science and technology firms to enhance the hackathon experience for this year’s participants. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to engage with potential sponsors in a professional manner and should be a self-starter with little need for supervision. Previous experience with fundraising, business development, or marketing is beneficial, but not required. PRIMARY DUTIES:  Conduct research to identify prospective sponsors Develop a sponsorship package to outline the hackathon’s goals and impacts, including the benefits we offer to our supporters Maintain contact with sponsors and update them on the event to cultivate strong partnerships Participate in sponsorship meetings with prospective sponsors REQUIREMENTS: Must be available for the entire virtual 2022 NASA Space Apps event on 1-2 October 2022 Time: 4-6 hours/week Self-motivated & independent Passionate about space and the space industry Background in marketing or business development preferred, but not required This is an unpaid volunteer position. However, successful applicants will receive a letter of recommendation following the completion of their role.
