Organization: Quest Theatre Location: Calgary (Hybrid / Virtual) Reports to: Treasurer / Chair of Finance Committee Overview Quest Theatre is seeking 2–3 Finance Committee Members to support the Treasurer and strengthen financial oversight, continuity, and succession planning. Purpose of the Role The Finance Committee supports the Board in fulfilling its fiduciary responsibilities by overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and audit processes. This role is also part of a structured succession plan to train members as backups to the Treasurer. Key Responsibilities - Review and discuss monthly/quarterly financial reports - Support oversight of the annual budgeting process - Monitor financial risks and internal controls - Ensure compliance with GAAP, CRA, and regulatory requirements - Review financial statements and reporting integrity - Assist in audit preparation and liaison with auditors - Support financial planning and sustainability discussions Succession / Backup Responsibilities - Receive training from the Treasurer - Learn reporting, audit, and Board presentation processes - Be prepared to step in as backup Treasurer if needed Qualifications - CPA (preferred) or strong accounting/finance background - 5+ years of relevant experience - Understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and controls - Interest in governance and non-profit sector Time Commitment - ~6 Finance Committee meetings per year (virtual) - Optional Board meeting participation (~6 per year) - Additional time for preparation What You Gain - Governance and Board-level experience - Exposure to audit, budgeting, and strategy - Mentorship from Treasurer - Opportunity to grow into Treasurer roleHow to Apply Send your resume to: board@questtheatre.org Subject: Finance Committee Member Application

As we expand our organization and incorporate, we are focused on building a strong and effective leadership team to drive our mission forward. Through targeted initiatives and collaborative efforts, we aim to create a safer online environment for everyone. Role DescriptionWe are currently seeking volunteer Board Members to join our team and play an essential role in guiding DEFEND’s strategic direction and maintaining our mission. Board Members will meet once per month via Zoom (approximately one hour per session) and will work closely with our Committee and executive staff/volunteer Volunteers (who are running the corporation on a day-to-day basis) to oversee organizational policies, financial decisions, and overall mission alignment. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in administration or management, though no prior board experience is necessary.Key ResponsibilitiesAttend Monthly Meetings: Participate in a monthly 1-hour Zoom meeting to discuss goals, initiatives, and strategies.Collaborate with the Committee: Communicate as needed with Committee members who oversee various organizational teams.Policy and Bylaw Development: Review and assess corporate policies and contribute to the development of bylaws to guide the organization’s activities.Financial Oversight: Evaluate and oversee large expenditures, investments, and liabilities to ensure alignment with DEFEND’s mission and financial health.Executive Oversight: Hire executive-level staff and make decisions regarding their compensation if applicable.QualificationsExperience: Prior experience in administration or management is helpful but not required.Commitment: Willingness to dedicate one hour per month to board meetings and additional time as needed to communicate with team members.Leadership: Interest in guiding an organization’s strategic mission, along with a commitment to online safety and protecting vulnerable populations.Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with team members across various channels.Why Join Us?
